The scene: City Hall in San
Francisco . . . AND SOON COMING TO YOUR TOWN?
The clerk at the marriage license counter says, "Next."
"Good morning. We want to apply
for a marriage license."
"Names?"
"Tim and Jim Jones."
"Jones? Are you related? I see a resemblance."
"Yes, we're brothers."
"Brothers? You can't get married."
"Why not? Aren't you giving
marriage licenses to same gender couples?"
"Yes, thousands. But we haven't had any siblings. That's incest!"
"Incest?" We're not
gay."
"Not gay? Then why do you want to get married?"
"For the financial benefits, of course. And we love each other.
"But we're issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples who've
been
denied equal protection under the law. If
you are not gay, you can get
married to a woman."
"Wait a minute. A gay man has
the same right to marry a woman as I have.
But just because I'm straight
doesn't mean I want to marry a woman. I want
to marry Jim."
"And I want to marry Tim, Are
you going to discriminate against us just
because we are not gay?"
"All right, all right. I'll give you your license. Next."
"Hi. We are here to get
married."

all bisexual. I love Jane and Robert, Jane

together is the only way that we can express
our sexual preferences in a marital
relationship."
"But we've only been granting licenses to gay and lesbian couples."
"So you're discriminating
against bisexuals!"
"No, it's just that, well, the traditional idea of marriage is that it's
just for couples."
"Since when are you standing on
tradition?"
"Well, I mean, you have to draw the line somewhere."
"Who says? There's no logical
reason to limit marriage to couples. The more
the better. Besides, we demand our
rights! The mayor says the constitution
guarantees equal protection under
the law. Give us a marriage license!"
"All right, all right. Next."
"Hello, I'd like a marriage
license."
"In what names?"
"David Deets."
"And the other man?"
"That's all. I want to marry myself."
"Marry yourself? What do you mean?"
"Well, my psychiatrist says I
have a dual personality, so I want to
marry the two together. Maybe I can
file a joint income-tax return."
The clerk looks past Mr. Deets and sees a tall, slender man leading a
female sheep on a leash. He throws a stack of papers into the air and
yells, "That does it! I quit! You people are making a mockery of
marriage!"
WHEN

you let the Bishop know how you feel about seeing your Church destroyed! (Phone
numbers are listed for the Bishop and all the auxiliary Bishops at this
site). This Diocese should not be getting one
more cent from any Catholic until this Bishop is removed!

Adults Responding
to a Cannibal
Three years ago in Germany, Armin Meiwes placed a personal ad on the Internet, seeking "a young, well-built man who wants to be eaten."
That's twisted all by itself, but it's not the worst part of the story. The worst part is that someone answered the ad.
Bernd Brandes, a man who is said to have had an obsession with pain, allowed himself to be killed and eaten by Meiwes. As a psychiatrist later determined, Meiwes had severe "emotional problems," and last month, he was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison.
But some argue that he didn't commit a crime. In fact, the case raises some very disturbing questions for a society like Germany's and ours. The idea of an unchangeable moral law given by God has been abandoned. The idea today is that we're autonomous-we're free to do whatever we want, as long as we don't hurt somebody else. That puts us in an awkward position when we try to determine just what Meiwes did wrong. By what standard can a modern secularist argue that Meiwes did anything wrong?
But didn't Meiwes hurt Brandes? That depends on whom you ask. Meiwes's lawyer argued that this was a case of "killing on request.” Brandes wished to die, and Meiwes accommodated him. In Holland and in Oregon, for that matter, it is legal to help fulfill such a wish.
Perhaps the secularist could say that he finds killing and cannibalism repulsive. But that's no argument. Some pro-choice activists, when pressed, will admit that they find a procedure like partial-birth abortion repulsive. But they'll fight for it because they believe any restrictions on abortions are a blow to their personal autonomy. So how can they object to the way these two men exercised their personal autonomy, even if it was repulsive?
Columnist and physician Theodore Dalrymple makes exactly this point in City Journal. Dalrymple writes, "Meiwes and Brandes were consenting adults: By what right, therefore, has the state interfered in their slightly odd relationship? Of course, one might argue that by eating Brandes, Meiwes was infringing on his meal's rights, and acting against his interests. But Brandes decided that it was in his interests to be eaten, and in general we believe that the individual, not the state, is the best judge of his own interests."
Once we stop believing in the sanctity of human life, or in the dignity of each person created in the image of God, or in an absolute moral law, how can we argue with an individual's decision to throw away his own life? How can we ask the state to step in to protect his life, to save him from himself?
I'm reminded of the U.S. Supreme Court decision Planned Parenthood v. Casey, in which Justice Kennedy famously wrote, "At the heart of liberty is the right to define one's own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life.” Armin Meiwes and Bernd Brandes took that morally bankrupt definition of liberty to its logical -if extreme and repulsive- conclusion. And the frightening part is that a world that has largely abandoned the Christian worldview has no meaningful response to give to them.

Urgent Call for
Action! We are calling for serious prayer and fasting
for the removal of our Bishop and calling upon all concerned Catholics in
this Diocese to withhold all giving to this Diocese until this Bishop resigns
his office. The
leadership in the Cleveland Diocese has proven time and time again to be
totally incapable of spiritual leadership by its years of scandalous
mismanagement, abuse of sex abuse victims and their families, ignoring and abusing
the Faithful and its ever increasing resistance to correction. Indeed that leadership is increasingly
participating in the outright destruction of our Church and its faith by not
only encouraging the enemies of the Church and their agenda in this diocese but
by actively obstructing and persecuting those who have attempted to maintain
the Catholic faith, obedience to the Holy Father and the Magisterium in this
Diocese. This persecution has included
priests themselves who have been effectively silenced by this abuse. In wake of this most tragic state of affairs
we are calling upon all the Faithful to join in three spiritual offences
against the entrenched and growing Forces of Darkness in this Diocese.
- EARNEST AND SUSTAINED PRAYER AND
FASTING for the removal of our
Bishop and for the reclamation of the many souls of those who have been
spiritually destroyed by the evil that he has allowed in this
Diocese—including his own soul.
- ACTION IN THE PERSISTENT AND
UNRELENTING PHONE CALLS OF PROTEST to every appropriate Diocesan agency and office at every offence and
abuse we report on this site.
Those in these offices and agencies share in the guilt for the
rebellion and moral scandals racking this Diocese by their failure to
confront their Bishop about his abuse of office and his failure to honor
his oath of office and uphold the Church and its faith in this
Diocese. Remind these servants of
the Church their duty is to correct an erring brother if they wish not to
have his blood on their own hands.
- ACTION IN JOINING US IN PRAYERFUL / PROTEST at the selected sites where these offences
occur; by the withholding of all
our giving to any parish in
this Diocese until there is a through house cleaning by a competent Bishop
appointed by the Holy Father; and the reporting of all serious parish
abuses for our website display.
All abuses need to be documented!
If an abuse is merely witnessed, the statement of the abuse, with
time and place must be signed by the witness(es) with address, phone
number and date. Prayer/Protest events will be posted on our home page
and sent to those on our E-Mail list for their action.
